Yannis Aposkitis was born in Athens in 1994. He is a graduate of the Law
School of the Democritus University of Thrace and holds a Master’s degree
from the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens
(Urban and Regional Planning). He is also a graduate of the Delos Drama
School. Since 2022, he has been working consistently in theatre as a
playwright, director, and dramaturg.
As a playwright, he mainly writes dark comedies and farces. His plays
include: The Democrateurs (Theatre of Neos Kosmos, 2025–2026, dir. Yannis
Aposkitis), Nohave-a-land (Theatre 104, 2025–2026, dir. Yorgos Vourdamis),
Nasty Scenery (Athens Epidaurus Festival 2025, dir. Simos Kakalas), Objects
(Roes Theatre, 2025, dir. Yorgos Katsis / Panos Papadopoulos), Ivan vs. Ivan
(Theatre of Neos Kosmos, 2024–2025, dir. Sotiris Roumeliotis), Black Magic
or Let the Dead Decease (Bellos Theatre, 2023–2025, dir. Yannis Aposkitis),
and The Provocateurs (Experimental Stage of the National Theatre of Greece,
2022–2023, dir. Orestis Stavropoulos), as well as other unpublished works
(The BuddiesThe Bat).
As a dramaturg, he has collaborated on the productions Jenny Jenny (dir.
Nikos Karathanos), Abelard and Heloise (dir. Dimitris Stavropoulos), Human
Resources (dir. Niki Doulgeraki), and The Enemy of the Class (dir. Georgia
Mavragani).
As a screenwriter, he has written scripts for short films (CovidiotsPits, dir.
Petros Kalfamanolis) and episodes for mini-series. His screenplay The
Museum of Broken Hearts received an award from the Greek Screenwriters
Guild.
He enjoys drawing, graffiti, and visual arts, and has organized two solo
painting exhibitions. He claims he wants to calm down, but remains restless.
