Pennsylvania, 1892. John Doe, a doctoral student in psychiatry, visits the Newman Clinic, where he is about to perform, for the first time in history, a revolutionary new surgical procedure: the lobotomy! Upon arriving at the clinic, however, instead of the “barbaric” operation, he encounters a “therapeutic” experiment that reenacts the authoritarian fantasies of the “Democrateur of Orygia,” as the schizophrenic patient who is to undergo the lobotomy calls himself. John is forced to take part in the experiment. The second, self-contained instalment of the unofficial and ill-fated political trilogy of Orygia, a satire of Trump’s America and the impending collapse of American democracy.
