Minas E. Vintiadis, journalist and author, was born in September 1957, in Port Said, Egypt, raised in his hometown, the island of Kasos, and has been living in Athens ever since he was 16. He studied Journalism at a young age and today, at an older age, he is studying Greek Culture in the Hellenic Open University.

For twenty-eight years, he worked for the Lambrakis Press Group, first at the newspaper To Vima (1984) and later at Ta Nea (1986-2012). During his career, he served as editor, cultural section editor, chief editor of the culture section, head of Northern Greece publications, editor-in-chief of the magazine Tachydromos, and director of Special Editions. Today, he writes a regular column for the ART supplement of the newspaper Pontiki.

For thirty years, he collaborated with the Greek National Radio, spending the last twenty-five years producing cultural programs for the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation.

To date, six of his literary works have been published, including the novels What I Told Claudia (1996, Livanis), The Three Marias (1999, Nea Synora Livanis), God’s Right Foot (2004), and The Rooster Dragon (short stories, 2006), all published by Ellinika Grammata. In 2013, his novel Do They Fry Potatoes on Mars? was published by Topos Editions, followed in 2022 by The Heist (To Rifi) from Ellinika Grammata. He has also contributed to numerous short-story anthologies (Kedros, Metaichmio, among others) and has published work in major literary magazines such as Lexi, Dendro, Entefktirio, and Exopolis. Some of his short stories have been translated into German.

He is a member of the Arts Committee of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, a member of the Administrative Board of the Association for the Building of the Opera House and the Academy of Lyric Arts “Maria Callas”. He is an executive member of the “Scholeion” Foundation of Irene Papas, while in the past, he has served as a Consultant –for three years– for the Cultural Foundation of the Journalists’  Union of Athens Daily Newspapers.

Vintiadis teaches Creative Writing seminars and, for three years, taught children with special needs at the Heraklion Attica School. In 2015, he participated as an instructor in the National Theatre of Greece’s writing studio program Write and Stage Your Play, and in 2017 he taught in the seminar series organized by the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. From 2015 to 2018, he directed the Thassos Theatre Camp, where distinguished artists and teachers such as Dimitra Hatoupi, Giannis Kakleas, Dimitris Karatzas, Giorgos Skampardonis, Stamatis Kraounakis, and Georgia Mavragani taught. He has also organized specialized seminars through Open Art.

Many of his plays have been staged. Among them, The Lower Parthenon premiered at the National Theatre of Northern Greece (2015), was restaged at the Alma Theatre (2019), was taught at the University of Cyprus, and was presented in Brussels and London at the Modern Greek Theatre Festival. His play Tattooland was staged at Angelon Vima Theatre (2017) and earned him a nomination for the Karolos Koun Award in 2018.

In 2018, Peach Tart was staged at the Alkmini Theatre. In 2021, his tribute to the Greek Revolution of 1821, Captains of Kasos, toured throughout Greece. His play The Sharecroppers was published in collaboration with the University of Athens. In 2022, his play about Smyrna, At Bokhoris’ Tavern, toured nationwide, while On the Wings of the Horse was presented in Karpathos during the summer of the same year.

During the 2023–24 season, his play My Brother Amadeus premiered at the Athens Concert Hall, was later staged at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and toured extensively throughout Greece. His play A Day with Beethoven, commissioned by the Heraklion Cultural Center, premiered in Crete in March 2024. His play Andromeda was presented in English at the renowned Oxford Festival under the direction of Anastasia Revi.
