Based on Kostantinos Christomanos’s text The Wax Doll. «Ah!», a suspiration. A simple and sad tale – this is “ah!”
The Wax Doll, the simple and sad tale written by Constantinos Christomanos in 1911 has been chosen by “bijoux de kant” to be presented in a new light. Yannis Skourletis (Direction) and Glikeria Basdeki (Dramaturgy) in this, their third collaboration, interact with Christomanos’ sharp aestheticism in a new and morbid physical narration that remains true to the character of the original. Helpless Verginia, innocent Liolia and their man Nikos come to Athens of today to (re)tell their little sad love story.
The living and the dead succumb to ultimate destruction as they bloom in vain and reverse eternal truths.
In “Ah!” sad rivers flow, waters are in pain and eternal truth bleeds. In “Ah!” almond trees bloom earlier and the time of their bloom is silent and dark like a country. Another iconostasis covered in sorrow.
