Melina Papageorgiou was born in December 1967 in Nicosia, where she lives today.

After high school, she attended the English Tutorial Centre – Secretarial Studies and she has been working in the public sector since 1988.

She always loved the theater. She graduated from the Drama School of Vladimiros Kafkaridis (2004). She attended the Bi-Communal Workshop (2003) for Pirandello, with Sebastiano Salvato and took part in the show held at the Ledra Palace in both languages, Greek and Turkish, with Pirandello’s play The child’s tale that changed.

She also attended a workshop on Brecht by Hans Uwe Chaos and Seminars (2005) for the ancient tragedy with Despina Bebedeli and Nikos Charalambous in Satirical Theatre. With her colleague Dimas Demosthenes she briefly taught theater workshop in PA.SY.DY. She is a fanatic spectator and, apart from theater, she loves cinema.

Writing is for Melina Papageorgiou an internal need and a personal pleasure. She records thoughts, writes short stories and theatrical texts. In 2009 her play Angry Flowers won the Second Prize in the Writing Contest of THOC (Cyprus Theatre Organisation). She attended the Workshop on Theatre Writing (2012) by Graham Whybrow, from which was born her play Mezzanine and the Workshop on Theatre Writing (2013) with Chrysa Spilioti.

Her play Mezzanine, which arose through the PLAY Program, a collaboration between the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute and the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, was edited by a theatrical writing consultant and was presented as part of the Program in staged reading in November 2013. In March 2015 the play went on stage directed by Magdalena Zira, production of Imaginary Theatre.

She is married to director Stavros Papageorgiou and a mother of three children.
