Andreas Koukidis was born in Pyrgos, Limassol in 12/6/1940. He studied at the Pancyprian Gymnasium, at Evis Gavriilidis’ School of Theatre and at Theodoulos Kalinikos’ School of Byzantine Music.

He worked as a news announcer for radio and TV, and as a program manager in Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation from 1965 until 1997 and the broadcasting station “O Logos” from 1998 to 2001.

He has written plays, dozens of scripts for television and hundreds of sketches for the radio.

Seven of his plays and twenty-four Cypriot sketches have been published in three volumes by Phaneromeni Church in Nicosia, to which he serves as right cantor. His other theatrical works have been published by himself.

A collection of poems entitled “Poems” has been published by the Holy Monastery of Kykkos. He has also written short stories, vignettes and airtime vignettes. The short story “O Liakos”, which refers to the sacrifice of the pupil of the Pancyprian Gymnasium Michail Giorgalas, took first prize in a contest, launched by the school for its hundred years.

His published plays are registered in the digital collection of the CUT (Cyprus University of Technology) http://athena.cut.ac.cy/koukidis. His plays, mainly comedies, are performed every year by many amateur theater companies, student and fraternal, throughout Cyprus.

He is married to Stella Agrotou since 1963 and has two sons and five grandchildren.
