Antonis Georgiou was born in 1969. He studied Law in Moscow and works in Limassol as a lawyer. He is a member of the editorial board of the literary magazine “Anef”. He was involved with the composition of Theatre Diaries (2001-2013) published by “Theatriki Poreia Lemesou” on the history of the Cypriot theater. He holds a Master’s degree in Theater Studies at the Open University of Cyprus.
He has published: Panselinos para mia [Full Moon Minus One] (Poems), Gavrielidis, Athens 2006, Glykia Bloody Life [Sweet Bloody Life] (Short Stories), Rodakio, Athens 2006, Short Story State Award, Ena alpoum istories [An Album of Stories], Rodakio, Athens 2014, Novel State Award, European Union Prize for Literature 2016.
He participated in Names, a collective publication of short stories (Kedros, Athens 2008) and in other collective publications of short stories and poetry.
His plays: Agapimeno mou plintirio [My Beloved Washing Machine] (2005, THOC; THOC Theater Award], I nosos [The Disease] (2009, Independent Production; THOC Theater Award nominee), O kipos mas [Our Garden] (2011, as part of Scenic Affairs project of Nicosia Municipal Arts’s Center), La Belote (2014, Paraplevros Paragoges; THOC Theater Award nominee), Imoun I Lysistrati [I was Lysistrata] (2016, Center of Performing Arts MITOS).
His An album of Stories was adapted for the stage and produced in 2016 by the theatrical group of Marios Kakoulis.His one-act play Sto filakio [At the Outpost] was presented in the Turkish language, as a staged reading (2014, “Walls Separate Worlds” project of the Cyprus Center of the International Theater Institute).
He was a member of the dramaturgy team of the production ON/OFF (Life Cuts) (2007, THOC).
On the occasion of his collection of short stories Sweet Bloody Life, One/Off Group staged in 2010 Forget-me-not, a text that was devised by the group and included excerpts from the then forthcoming book An Album of Stories. The play was chosen to represent Cyprus at the Festival Avignon Off in 2011.
