Dimitris Foutsias was born in Athens where he lives and works as a playwright, director and tutor of creative writing.  He studied Computer Design and worked on it for many years. For several years he was trained in acting and directing (film and theater).  His works have been staged in Greece, the United Kingdom, and Cyprus. Was a founding member of the theater group Plasters. During the period 2013 – 2016 he directed and presented his theatrical play, Rigolios, The Journey of a Stripe. He has also directed other plays of his own such as, Patroclus’s anatomy (Bios Main, 2018), and Thank you speech (Embros Theater, 2017).

His plays have been awarded, and staged:  Bees in the war at the International Analogio Festival (Nous theater, 2025). Anna is up high was awarded in the theater monologue competition of the municipality of Agrinio (2024).  Meatball (Kapa Publishing, 2020) was distinguished at the workshop for young playwrights (ENTHESY) and was staged at the  Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (2019), at the Aliki Theater (2020), in Thessaloniki at the Athinaion Theater and Technochoros Theater (2nd award at the Thessaloniki Awards 2024, 2023-25) and in Cyprus (Limassol – ETHAL Theater, Nicosia – Dromos Theater, 2023-24). The snow in my teeth (Aparsis Publications, 2022) was awarded at the “The outreach project” for new theatrical voices and was presented at the Vault Theater (2022), at the Simpkins Lee Theater in Oxford, at the Festival “We are all different” of Contemporary Greek Theater Works (2023) and at the Hellenic Center in London (2023).  Thank you speech as a staged reading at the Empros Theater (2017). Rigolios the journey of a stripe was staged at the Epi kolono, Fabrica theater and Paramythia theater (2014-16).  His works have been translated into English.
