Maria Chandra is a Dramaturg and Director and she holds a Master’s degree in Theatre Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specialising in worldwide and greek dramaturgy and performance. She studied film directing at IEK AKMI and law at the Democritus University of Thrace and at the University of Southampton. She has attended intensive theatre directing seminars in London, at the Royal School of Speech and Drama and at East15 Acting School, and in Athens, at the Theatre of Changes Drama School. She collaborated with Stathis Livathinos, Dimitris Mavrikios, Thomas Moschopoulos, Manolis Dounias, Aimilios Chilakis, Mihalis Kilakos, Panagiotis Klinis and others directors. She directed two short films based on her own scripts and an audio performance of David Greig’s play Yellow Moon the Ballad of Leila and Lee, which she translated and adapted for radio. Her research interests extend to European and American dramaturgy with emphasis on British theatre and the role of sound in contemporary dramaturgy. She attends regularly theatrical performances in Athens and in London and she is actively engaged in theatre and film critical analysis.
