Inspired by the anti-colonialist struggle of EOKA (National Organization of Cypriot Fighters) in 1955-59 in Cyprus, the play presents the collectiveness of that struggle, in which all the Greeks of the island participated. The events are presented through the involvement of a priest’s family, while in parallel we see the story of his son’s love affair with one of his comrades.
The play won the first prize in Cyprus Intellectual Cultural Development (1962). It was staged by the Cyprus Organization for Theatrical Development (OTHAC) in Cyprus and in Nicosia. It was staged by a Cypriot troupe in London and presented in Cypriot television by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (ΡΙΚ) in 1963.
