- A stage adaptation of the novel of the same title by Tom Robbins. Following a personal tragedy, Leigh-Cheri decides to renounce romantic love and devote herself to activism in search of a better world. Accompanied by her elderly servant, Gulietta, she travels to Hawaii to attend a conference dedicated to healing the Earth. At the same time, a UFO convention is being held nearby, where a peculiar couple claiming to be extraterrestrials verbally attack Leigh-Cheri. Meanwhile, the notorious bomber Bernard “Woodpecker” Wrangle is planning to blow up the environmental conference but mistakenly destroys the UFO convention instead. Amid the ensuing chaos, Leigh-Cheri “captures” him, and a powerful attraction develops between them. Despite their opposing views — he champions freedom, while she embraces romantic idealism — they fall deeply in love. Disillusioned by her experience in Hawaii, Leigh-Cheri returns to Seattle with Gulietta and Bernard. His meeting with her parents ends disastrously, and before long he is betrayed to the authorities by an undercover agent. He is arrested and imprisoned in a maximum-security facility. Unable to endure their separation, Leigh-Cheri symbolically withdraws into an attic, an act that attracts media attention and inspires a strange movement of lovers. When Bernard learns of the publicity surrounding her protest, he accuses her of immaturity. Hurt, she agrees to marry a wealthy prince in exchange for the construction of a pyramid. Inside the pyramid, Bernard suddenly reappears, having escaped from prison. The two shut themselves away inside and live in isolation, entirely devoted to their love. When their supplies run out, Leigh-Cheri attempts to sacrifice herself with dynamite in order to save him. They survive, however, and wake up in hospital, deaf but alive. Eventually, they return to Seattle together and continue their lives, still in love.
