The play is based on true facts from the 19th century. Tooulis is a porter in the port of Kyrenia; one day, while he is drunk, he rapes his mother. In danger of being lynched, he flees to the Metropolitan of Kyrenia, who, in order to save him, makes him walk around naked, eat raw food like the birds of the sky, and pray. In the beginning, he reacts, but slowly and with continuous praying, along with the protection he finds in various monasteries during his roaming, he manages to follow the path of the naked Orthodox hermit, Saint Onuphrius. When the island is occupied, the English commander of Kyrenia perceives him as a savage, arrests him, keeps him in the fortress of Kyrenia, and tries to ‘civilize’ him. With the help of a monk, Tooulis manages to escape and resume the life of the naked hermit.
The play earned an award by the Cyprus Theater Organization in 1988.
