It’s Sunday afternoon and the family gathers to have lunch. The cake placed on the table is there to mark a double joy. Today, it is Father’s 70th birthday —the last one he will be celebrating as head of the family business. Starting tomorrow, his son and daughter will take over. If Mother hadn’t dropped the cake, perhaps everything would have gone smoothly. Perhaps Father would have relinquished the crown willingly. But the cake is already on the floor and it is the knives, not the spoons, doing the talking.
