Marios Kallos is an Alexander S. Onassis Foundation scholar. He is a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia (Department of Theatre and Film); he holds a BA (honours) in Theatre Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MA in Theatre Studies. His research focuses on the intersections between academia and theatre practice during the pre-production stage of contemporary reperformances of classical plays, specifically ancient Greek Drama and Elizabethan Theatre.
He is a member of the European Network of Research and Identification of Performances of Ancient Greek Drama (ArcNet) and, between 2009-2016, contributed to the organization of graduate and undergraduate summer courses in Epidaurus and Lavrion. He has also co-led undergraduate study abroad courses with Princeton University and the University of British Columbia.
He has previously worked in the press as a culture and entertainment editor and in theatre as an assistant director, dramaturg, and theater program editor. Since 2022, he has been a sessional lecturer at the University of British Columbia, teaching theatre theory and history courses.
