Flourakis participated in the Royal Court International Residency in 2001 and has served as visiting professor in Playwriting at The University of Kansas, as well as in several institutions in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>Honors include a Writer in Residence Award at the Royal Court International Residency (UK), a Fulbright Artist Award (USA), a Diploma\u00a0in Filmmaking (Greece) and an MA in Writing for the Stage and Broadcast Media at the Central School of Speech and Drama (UK).<\/p>\n<p>His first appearance in the theatre took place in 2001; in 2003 he received a special distinction in the one-act play contest organized by the Art Theatre; in 2006 his play <em>Antelopes\u00a0<\/em>was chosen as one of the sixteen best plays in the JANUS Project for New Plays and New Playwriting across Europe, and in 2008 he\u00a0was awarded in the one-act play contest organized by the DI.PE.THE (municipal theatre) of Rhodes and received the 3rd prize in the International Monodrama Contest 2006-2008 of UNESCO-ITI.<\/p>\n<p>His plays have been performed in distinguished Greek theatres during the last decade. His work has been translated into English, French, Italian, Turkish, Romanian, Polish and Finnish and has been performed or included in readings at the Royal Court Theatre, the Gate Theatre, the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Tristan Bates in Great Britain, the Oyun Yaz festival in Istanbul, at the Helsinki Festival, the Comparative Drama Conference, the HotINK festival, the GI60 festival in the USA and elsewhere.
