Interviews.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And we keep on going.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Greek Play Project<\/strong> is being renewed and enriched, while remaining firmly an open meeting place for contemporary Greek playwriting: a space that documents and showcases plays and their creators, opens up discussion around playwriting, and facilitates its connection with audiences both in Greece and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>More than ten years after its creation, GPP continues to expand its network of playwrights and to seek out new voices and different forms of playwriting. Today, <strong>83 playwrights and 716 plays<\/strong> make up a dynamic record of contemporary Greek playwriting.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Voices at GPP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Five new playwrights<\/strong>, with distinct writing voices and different trajectories, themes and aesthetics, are joining the platform: <strong>Giannis Aposkitis, Sofianna Theofanous, Katerina Louvari-Fasoi, Konstantinos Markellos <\/strong>and<strong> Dimitris Foutsias<\/strong>.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>Collaborations Across Borders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Greek Play Project is steadily developing its international network of collaborations, creating more opportunities and opening up new channels of communication between Greek playwriting and playwrights, theatre professionals and audiences in other countries.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>new collaboration<\/strong> is beginning with the Playwrights Guild of Canada, as part of <strong>Craft Bites International \u2013 Connecting Playwrights Across Borders<\/strong>, the international series of online readings and discussions that brings Canadian playwrights into dialogue with playwrights from other countries. On <strong>26 November 2026<\/strong>, <strong>Giannis Aposkitis<\/strong> meets Canadian playwright <strong>Amanda Samuelson<\/strong>, while on <strong>14 January 2027<\/strong>, <strong>Sofia Kapsourou<\/strong> meets Canadian playwright <strong>Norman Yeung<\/strong>. Short readings of plays and an open dialogue with the active participation of the audience open up a channel of communication between Greek and Canadian playwriting.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the <strong>Greek Play Project\u2019s collaboration with the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute continues and expands<\/strong>, with the consistent aim of promoting contemporary Cypriot playwriting. In the coming period, <strong>two more Cypriot playwrights<\/strong> will join GPP: <strong>Costas Mannouris<\/strong> and <strong>Michalis Papadopoulos<\/strong>, strengthening the connection between the playwriting of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>GPP also follows and highlights the journeys of Greek-language playwriting beyond national borders. From <strong>20 to 22 November 2026<\/strong>, the first <strong>Greek Theater Festival Berlin (GTFB) in Berlin<\/strong>, under the artistic direction of <strong>Elena Sokratous<\/strong> and with the support of the <strong>Greek Play Project<\/strong>, brings contemporary Greek and Cypriot playwriting to the forefront. Performances, discussions with playwrights and parallel activities introduce plays and their creators to Greek-speaking, German-speaking and international audiences, strengthening exchange and encounters between different theatrical cultures.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone Has the Right to Write<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the Greek Play Project, support for playwriting knows no boundaries.
