During the time that they are scheduled to remain confined there, and having the freedom to say whatever they want since they will never meet, they construct identities, devise &#8220;selves&#8221;, remember stories \u2013 and, almost inevitably, retrace the past (?) brutality of the Holocaust; the extermination Chambers, and Zyklon B gas. With the distancing that time offers, they make scenarios and set up imaginary &#8216;old stories of potent love\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>At some point, however, the two heroes realize that there can be no return from the &#8220;selves&#8221; they have created: the Story they remembered overwhelms them, their imaginary love becomes Destiny.
