{"id":3817,"date":"2024-10-20T15:07:20","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T15:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greek-theatre.gr\/article\/gorkys-wife\/"},"modified":"2024-10-22T11:24:20","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T11:24:20","slug":"gorkys-wife","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/greek-theatre.gr\/en\/article\/gorkys-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"Gorky\u2019s Wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <em>Gorky\u2019s Wife<\/em>, Veronica, a young woman from the Balkans lands in Los Angeles as air stewardess and decides to stay there and start a new life totally disconnected from her origins and past.\u00a0 This play written after the fall of the Wall in Berlin, and by the end of the Cold War, uses American and Russian symbols.\u00a0 But it also has to do with Greece.\u00a0 It brings up the question of whether we can start over again.\u00a0 Can we even invent a fake new identity?\u00a0 Can we vanish?\u00a0 This question concerns individual lives but also countries, entire cultures.\u00a0 How do the dark spots of history, the ghosts of the past, still influence us?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This play was originally written in English.
